I found a 1944 Steel penny... worth

The message entitled I found a 1944 Steel penny... worth posted by anonymous on 7/21/03 13:22 in the pennys coin collecting value forum has now expired. Here is the original text:

Found it in my grandpa's old coin collection yesterday. Has a lot of wheat pennies (approx 500), About a dozen 1943 steel pennies, and one 1944 steel penny. I thought maybe the 1944 was more rare than the 1943. I can't find any info on it. Also has a small octogonal 1855 gold half cent and about 300 buffalo nickles. I'm new to the hobby so be kind! Thanks, John

Actually, 1943 pennies are really rare and really sought after. Not 1944.I dont know how rare those are. I think it's said that only about 40 are left in circulation. If they are real 1943 pennies they should stick to a magnet.

Take them to a coin shop to get then looked at. 1943 pennies can be sold for a good amount of money I hear. But dont take my word go to an expert. Good luck.

Here are some links to help you find the I found 1944 Steel penny.. worth information you want, whether you are interested in selling, buying, or just learning more about Lincoln pennies.

The following are I found 1944 Steel penny.. worth auctions currently running on eBay. These are live auctions. Click on any of the links for more information.

If there are no listings above, there may be no pennys available, or it could be a bug in the program. I recommend clicking over and searching for "I found 1944 Steel penny.. worth" or something more specific. The variety of coins, paper money, and tokens being auctioned every day on eBay is amazing.

If you're wondering how much your Abraham Lincoln/Lincoln Memorial penny is worth, i.e. the value of an American one-cent coin minted after 1959, these eBay auctions are one of the best ways to get a true sense of the going prices. (For help judging the condition of your penny, click here.)

To sell your I found 1944 Steel penny.. worth, you have two main options. The first is eBay or another online auction. Auctions have always been the best way to get the real value of your coins, without a coin dealer taking a cut. Selling on eBay (or eBay UK, eBay Canada, or eBay Australia) is easy. You just have to register, which is easy and painless.

The disadvantage of selling coins on eBay is that it can take some time, especially if you have more than one coin to sell. The fastest way to cash out is to sell to a coin dealer. One national dealer I know is Jake's Marketplace. They're good folks and they give fair prices. But you may prefer to find a local dealer.

By the way, before taking your collection to a dealer, you may want to get the most current and reliable price estimates for your coins. Invest the 10 bucks in this year's Black Book or Red Book Guide to U.S. Coin Values. They're both comprehensive, reliable sources for coin prices.

Have Fun!
